Director of Sports Performance

Scotty earned his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He brings extensive experience to his position as Director of Sports Performance. His impressive background consists of management and high-level coaching for a variety of sport performance entities, including the Philadelphia Soul Semi-Pro Arena Football team.

Proficient in concepts and applications of exercise science, Scotty has coached over 1,000 sport performance sessions. He is skilled at training all age groups to accomplish their athletic best. Throughout sessions, his focus remains on injury prevention while improving his client’s speed, agility, strength, endurance, and conditioning. Scotty also knows how to create effective, efficient combine training programs.

An athlete himself, Scotty played NCAA Division III football and basketball while attending TCNJ. He knows how to execute a winning play and train a winning player. Scotty welcomes your sport performance questions and concerns.

Anthony BufiAnthony Bufi

Sports Performance Coach

Anthony earned his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training, with Minors in exercise science and leadership, from Nova Southeastern University. Currently, he is working toward his Master of Science degree in advanced athletic training from Montclair State University.

He is a licensed athletic trainer with the State of New Jersey, and a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Anthony earned his personal training certification from the National Personal Training Association. He also is certified in Functional Movement Screening (FMS).

His motivating attitude combines with expert skills to help his clients achieve their best on the Fitness Floor and the playing field. Anthony knows the rigors and challenges of being an athlete. He is prepared to help you take your performance to a new level.

Sports Performance Coach

Bruce earned his Bachelor of Science degree in graphic communications, with a Minor in photography, from Kean University. During his college career, he played football and ran track. In high school, he participated in varsity football, baseball, and wrestling. He is a certified personal trainer and performance enhancement specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a certified USA Olympic weightlifting coach through the USA Olympic Committee. Bruce also is a certified Level 1 & 2 Reiki practitioner.

An avid athlete, Bruce specializes in sports performance training. His clients take their skills to higher levels through his progressive, effective training sessions. Bruce provides the challenges each athlete needs to safely excel in their specific sport.

Melinda Rothmanmelinda

Sports Performance Coach

Melinda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in health and exercise science from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

She has extensive experience in competitive sports, including participation in track and field and cheerleading at TCNJ. Her passion for athletic excellence was solidified through this collegiate journey. Melinda knows the mental and physical preparation, and tireless dedication, needed to excel at your sport. She has the skills and personal commitment required to help her clients grow as healthy, successful athletes.

Kevin Catona
Kevin Catona

Sports Performance Coach

A Tier 3 trainer, Kevin earned his certifications as a personal trainer and a performance enhancement specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is a level 2 USAW advanced weightlifting coach as well as a certified clinical athlete weightlifting coach. He also is certified in Aquakinetics.

Kevin specializes in Olympic weightlifting, strength and conditioning, and corrective exercises. He is one of the Center coaches who runs the ACL Return to Sport Wellness Program. He helps participants learn prehab/rehab exercises for efficient recovery and consistently safe performance. Kevin has extensive experience training athletes after knee and hip replacements as well as those overcoming shoulder injuries.

His clients succeed beyond recovery to safely excel in their sport.

 

Brihana Martins

Sports Performance Coach

Brihana believes challenge allows growth. She strives to help her clients grow stronger through safely, appropriately challenging them on the Fitness Floor.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in global fitness and wellness from Kean University where she enthusiastically participated in athletics. Brihana is a certified sports performance coach (who coached soccer) and personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, where she is also certified in Precision Nutrition. She is CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.

Her experience includes many types of training for young children through older adults. She is skilled at helping athletes improve speed, strength, and agility through power workouts. As a fitness model and competitive bodybuilder, she knows the most effective methods for those looking to increase muscle. Brihana’s weight loss workouts help sculpt fat into toned muscle. Often, she will include circuit training for bursts of cardio, along with functional training for better movement.

Brihana helps members achieve goals as they journey to their best health.

 

Ben Gildenberg
Ben Gildenberg

Sports Performance Coach

By focusing on progress, not perfection, Ben helps his clients accomplish their fitness goals and more. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Hofstra University. He earned dual Master’s degrees in strength and conditioning, and fitness entrepreneurship, from the University of Miami. While there, he worked as an intern in the Strength and Conditioning Department, primarily training football players.

Ben is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also TRX certified. Ben works with all the Center’s Sports Performance groups, and he serves as the lead coach for our ACL Return to Sport program. He also is an intern for Seton Hall’s Strength and Conditioning program.

Ben is skilled at helping members return to fitness after completing physical rehabilitation. He focuses on functional training to improve daily activities while becoming fitter. His circuit training programs safely, effectively accomplish and maintain a healthy weight. Athletes benefit from Ben’s results-driven sport performance training during which he motivates for excellence.
